Terms of Use

These terms apply to the use of www.istanbulafrica.com and to the trade advisory services offered under the Istanbul Africa name. If you sign a written proposal or service agreement with us, it prevails over these terms where they differ.

1. Service provider

Burak Ünal, who provides Turkey-Africa trade advisory services under the name Istanbul Africa (www.istanbulafrica.com) as a sole proprietorship. 2. What we do, and what we do not do

We advise businesses that buy from Turkey or sell into Africa: market and sector research, identifying and checking suppliers and buyers, sourcing support, contract manufacturing coordination and trade strategy. We are an advisory practice. Unless expressly agreed in writing, we are not a party to your sales contract, we do not take ownership of goods, and we are not a freight forwarder, customs broker, bank, insurer or law firm.

3. No guarantee of third-party outcomes

The result of a trade depends on people we do not control: manufacturers, buyers, carriers, banks and the authorities of the countries involved. We work carefully to reduce your risk, but we cannot guarantee that a supplier or buyer will perform, that goods will match samples, that a shipment will arrive on time, that goods will clear customs, or that a counterparty will be found.

4. Beware of impersonation

We contact clients only from @istanbulafrica.com email addresses and the telephone and WhatsApp numbers on our contact page. We will never ask you to pay a supplier into a bank account that you have not confirmed directly with that supplier. If anyone claims to act for Istanbul Africa and asks you for money, verify with us first at info@istanbulafrica.com.

5. Proposals and fees

Contacting us through the website creates no obligation for either side. Scope, deliverables, fees and payment terms are set out in a written proposal before any paid work begins.

6. Information on this website

Country profiles, sector pages, trade tables and articles are general information, prepared carefully and dated. Trade figures carry the year they describe (for example, the figures from our Africa Economic Report reflect data to 2017). They are not legal, tax or financial advice, and regulations, tariffs and documentary requirements change: check the current rules for your shipment, or ask us, before you rely on them.

7. Your responsibilities

• Give complete and accurate information and documents, and tell us promptly about changes.
• Comply with the laws that apply to your trade, including export controls, sanctions, product standards and the import rules of the destination country.
• Make your own commercial decisions: our advice informs them, it does not replace them.

8. Third parties and links

Suppliers, buyers and service providers act under their own terms and are responsible for their own performance. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.

9. Intellectual property

The texts, tables, images, logo and design of this website belong to Burak Ünal or are used with permission. You may quote short extracts with a link to the source page. Any other reproduction or commercial use requires written permission.

10. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for a service is limited to the fees paid for that service, and we are not liable for indirect loss or lost profit. This does not limit liability for intent or gross negligence (Turkish Code of Obligations Art. 115), or any right that cannot be waived by law.

11. Personal data

Personal data is processed as described in the Privacy Policy and KVKK Information Notice and the Cookie Policy.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. The courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul (Çağlayan) have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory rule that gives you the right to apply elsewhere.

13. Versions and changes

If a provision is invalid, the rest remains in force. We may update these terms; the date of the current version is shown at the top. If translations differ, the Turkish version prevails: Kullanım Koşulları.
